Minimalist states or states that require very little be added to
the machine to make it street legal.
Arizona, Colorado, Idaho, Michigan, Montana, Vermont & Wyoming.

Big news for owners or buyers of bikes and atvs and the red sticker in california.

The Ban on 3 or C vin number, 8th digit of the vin and the red sticker bikes is over

for all vehicles pre 2003 models get green stickers when you renew your sticker.

If you want your new green sticker before the renewal date you could go to DMV and ask for a new sticker because the old one was damaged.

Just ask nicely for your replacement OHRV sticker.

Original updated 03-24-03

What this means is any bike or atv that got a red sticker

will get a green sticker if the vehicle is pre 2003

or

1998 thru 2002 machines get green stickies and
before 1998 also get green stickies

Hopefully a dual registeration for your bike will be possible.
I will post info after someone has actually done it. Soon
all 1998 thru 2002 bikes and atvs should be eligible
updated 04-23-03
That means you can get green for your CRF 450 or DRZ and WR YZF or other like machine.

Memo partial
Sent to all dmv's in CA

Off Highway-Recreational Vehicle (OHRV) registration guidelines have changed.

The type of registeration sticker issued this year to your OHRV may be differnt than previously issued.

Please read the following important information regarding the use of your OHRV on public lands in California. http://www.ohv.parks.ca.gov

Green Sticker

Year round use at all California OHRV riding areas.

Green Stickers are issued to OHRVs certified by their manufacturer to meet the california OHRV emission standards (anti-pollution) and ALL 2002 nodel year and older OHRVs.

OHRVs certified to meet emissins standards are identified by a label attached to the vehicle frame by the manufacturer

Red Sticker

At California OHRV riding areas, seasonal use only.

A list of the seasonal riding periods is available by calling the Air Resources Board at 800-242-4450 or on the web at http://www.ohv.parks.ca.gov/default.asp?page_id=21928.

Red stickers are issued to 2003 model year and newer OHRVs that are not certified to California OHRV emissions standards.

Your OHRV should be issued a Red Sticker if it is a 2003 model year or newer vehicle and you see a "C or "3" in the eighth digit of your vin.

MAKING A MOTORCYCLE STREET - ENDURO - LEGAL OR MORE

If all else fails
Try the state nearest to you that allows conversions. You might want to register the machine in your relatives name IE:
brother, sister, mother, father, uncle, aunt or better your middle name. If you use your first name (John Smith) aka
( John Anthony Smith) vs (Tony Smith)

If you get pulled over by the bronze* in your home state and your are carrying a dl* from the same state. And the machine you are riding is
registered in a different state and your full name is on the reg* and you own it, then it could get ugly. IE: California requires that after you and or the vehicle has been in the state for 20 days it is required that you register hte vehicle and or get adrivers license in that state asap.
IE:-Example: You do not want to register the machine in your full name if you are living in california and have the bike registered in arizona.

The
VERMONT State route for regestering your machine is not the super easy way that it was at one time ( easy vermont regestration time was 2004 thru 2007 appx).
You still might be able to use the vermont route but there are restrictions that you will need to be aware of.
If your machine does not say for off road use only on it you might still be able to go the vermont route, might be able to is the key word.

Additional info check the vermont website for more info.

The purpose of this state page is to help you the customer in your decision on what parts you need for your mototcycle.
I would hope if you use this page that you will try to purchase products from AHM that will help plate your machine.
Thanks,
A.H. MacLaughlin

Do Not Buy A Dual Sport Kit
