One of the big brutes in dual sport can be broken down. We got our prototype NXRL 650 down to 295 lb with 1 gallon of fuel in it. Back in 1991, before there was a XR 650L, we just built our own with a XR600 mated with a NX650 and got 295 LB XR650L). So you can shed some weight if you follow our tricks. That's a savings of 40+ pounds. Starting with a stock XR 650L, weighing in at a portly 348 LBS. wet, we can remove the headlight assy, gauge cluster, ignition switch, handlebars, mirrors, fuel tank & shrouds, rear taillight & fender brace,
battery & box, front & rear sprockets, rear foot pegs, air pump + you get a whopping total of ?

Remember, this also works for most other bikes. But remember that when you remove parts like the battery you may compromise the battery capacity when your bike is stuck in a gully somewhere. Then you add the new parts from
Four Strokes Only, Acerbis, UFO, IMS, Renthal Etc. and the fun begins. Headlight, taillight, fuel tank,
mirrors, handle bars, gauge cluster, ignition switch, turn signals, battery/box + - etc.
