#1. Suspension
Setting up your suspension is the first modification to your new bike that should be done as soon as possible. If you haven't been on a newer bike with great suspension, then it's time you did. Just reworking the suspension could mean the difference between winning a race or just keeping your body from getting damaged on that dual sport ride. Having the suspension reworked to its supreme best will help you stay in the winner's circle and not in the hospital. Different types of terrain can affect your bike very differently (i.e., big jumps, mx, sx, heavy and lightly wooded areas, tight and rocky trails, single track, desert, and dual sport rides where you run on lots of varied terrain).

#2. Wider Footpegs
Footpegs are a small and sometimes forgotten part of your bike that should not be overlooked. New, wider footpegs can help in your balance, stamina, ankle support, and with the general control of the bike over all kinds of terrain. It may sound like a bunch of bull, but just like the pros have found, wide footpegs do make a BIG difference. They especially make a difference for dual sport rides that can be on the long side or just that short creek crossing where keeping your feet on the pegs is a big plus.

#3. Gearing

Tires, Tubes, Sprockets, Chain, Rims, Hubs, Spokes & Brakes: Checking the Gearing on your bike is one of the most easily changed things you can do to get more performance from the bike. So… depending on the riding that you are doing, you need to check that gearing. Make extra positive that you really need all that top end speed. When on that next dual sport ride, or off road riding excursion, pay more attention to the gearing.

The tires on your bike give you your contact with the ground, so you need to have the correct tire for the specific situation.
Do you go with foam or conventional pneumatic style inner tubes? Both styles are available.

Wheel Assemblies: O.E.M. & Talon. Rims: by Sun & Excel. Hubs by O.E.M. & Talon.
Spokes: Stainless Steel, by Buchanan & White Bros.
Brakes: Rotors and brake pads by Braking USA.

#4. Steering Stabilizer

Scotts Performance Steering Stabilizer.
Made in the USA. The stabilizer is designed to help you stay under control. Remember that with out some form of steering stabilizer you just don't have. The Edge.

#4. Steering Stabilizer
Go-Faster-Longer-Harder.

The stabilizer is oil dampened. It has the following features. Returning to center no damping, the deflect and dampen feature (but does not increase the affect of arm pump or fatigue) and the stabilizer can also help retain your speed when you hit a whoop or rut at slow or high speed. What does all this mean? More control, less arm pump, more endurance!! Speed and Safety , if needed, but control!

#5. Set up
Getting you and the bike working as one. Dialing in the ergonomics of your bike for you is the first step if you want to go faster and beat your friends or just go faster! But more importantly its the way in which you do it. The more set up that you get the better prepared you will be later. This will make it all that much easier. Handlebars, Controls, Seats Higher Lower & Wider & Wider Footpegs. The hardest part, next to getting the bike to work with you, is getting the correct parts to work for you.

#6. Riding Ability
Making the Machine and You One! Learning how to ride better, controlling your speed, going in/and out of turns faster and safer are all part of becoming one with your machine. Turns are a beginner's worst enemy. Learning how to turn and brake better is one easy way of riding & having more fun. Videos and riding coaches & classes on how to improve your riding style & ability.
